Position Summary

CVS Health, Digital is looking for a Senior Inclusive Designer with experience working in a fast-paced, startup like environment. We believe everyone deserves good design. As a key member of the Inclusive Design team, you will help ensure that the User Experience of our digital platform and ecosystem is built with accessibility in mind. Partner with product managers/owners and leadership to increase attention to the needs of our customers and community. Grow your skill set and knowledge base by working alongside talented and passionate teammates from diverse backgrounds. Coach, support and empower EXDs, UXRs, and Content Strategists on principles of accessibility and inclusive design and to ensure we’re delivering accessible digital experiences. You will use WCAG to evaluate our digital experiences and will be tasked with investigating issues that are unclear.

You will provide extra insight based upon a deeper set of experiences and a rich work portfolio that includes coaching and/or mentoring accessibility designers with less experience.

Required Qualifications

Accessibility Knowledge:

5+ years design accessibility experience
Understands the shortcomings of WCAG as well as the intent and how as a designer, they can improve the user experience beyond strict compliance and guidelines
Good understanding of a varieties of assistive technologies and the design patterns that work well for those technologies
Deep understanding of inclusive design and demonstrated ability to give guidance to team members around this subject

Responsibilities of the role:

Collaborative contributor to design a11y initiatives
Collaborate with UI, UX, Content and UXR team members to provide accessibility design guidance on product feature work using SAFe/agile methodology
Can demonstrate a broader understanding of different ways of building websites and mobile apps, such as use of angular, or other frameworks, that offer more complexity.
Android and iOS experience
Thinks bigger scale and finds partners for enterprise solutions
Shows confidence in their skills and ability to mentor others
Reviews and creates annotations
Provide training, education, workshops, and individual review sessions throughout the design process from concept to creation to team members not versed in accessibility design
Document and evolve patterns adopted across the enterprise related to assistive technology experiences
Design defect remediation and collaborate with Engineering Accessibility team members to recommend solutions
Vocal and confident advocate for inclusive design with respect to all product feature work

Communication Skills:

Prompts conversations with questions, has a growth mindset
Provides feedback and resources to others across the team
Empathic listener
Provides input in team discussions
Unafraid to call out issues and provide leadership in seeking resolution

Preferred Qualifications

Exposed to an Assistive Technology (AT), can name most ATs, can express why AT is important to people with disabilities
Has applied experience with inclusive design and has a definite point of view with respect to the work
Takes initiative
At least one 'added value' knowledge which might include any of the following:
iOS design/ development
Android design/ development
Web development/ architecture
User testing/ research
Voice technologies
Game design

Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $206,000.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
