20 years ago, I graduated from the FIT Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management MPS masters program — an incredible two year experience where I deepened my knowledge of, and love for, the beauty industry. Fast forward to last night, where I had the pleasure of joining some of my 2004 classmates for a mini-reunion as we participated in a leadership panel discussion for the impressive class of 2024. We remarked on the lessons we learned along the way, how 20 years goes by in an absolute blink, and the true gift of the lasting friendships we made. Thank you to professors Stephan Kanlian Tennille Kopiasz and Caterina Burzio, Givaudan for hosting, and to my classmates that I’m so wowed by and thankful for: Tennille Kopiasz Larissa Jensen Jon Roman Michelle McCabe . I've said it before, and I'll say it again...the community of fellow female founders that emerged around us while building The Outset has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. I first met Sarah Jahnke while speaking on a Beauty Independent panel and we bonded over our shared experiences as co-founders to celebrities. Scarlett and I are so proud that The Outset's debut on QVC this week resulted in a sellout performance! It was a joy to share the story behind our radically gentle and hydrating products with the audience - and as Scarlett has been a lifelong fan of the channel, this was truly a dream come true.💫 Our universal approach to stress free skin for all genders and generations means that we want to meet customers where they are. We have been able to reach our skin newbies, sensitive types, and clean lovers through existing retail partnerships and digital efforts, but when we saw that 25% of our online customer base had mature skin concerns, we knew there was an opportunity to create conversation with this customer in a bigger way. Scarlett kept telling me how much she wanted to tell our story on QVC, and I sent a cold DM to a QVCbuyer on LinkedIn (I won't name names toprotect theirinbox!). We eventually got a meeting, and months of pitching turned intoa yes. Then began months of prep from the teams at QVC and The Outset to build towards launch. And the response was incredible, crushing our monthly goals in mere minutes!📈 🎉 This was a labor of love and the result of so much effort from the incredible teams at QVC and The Outset - thank you all! Our name, The Outset, was chosen to reflect the daily start to healthy skin, embracing every day with renewed optimism.
