Hey, non-profit leaders! Today is kick-off for the next tranche of grant applications. This round is dedicated to the Women's Fund, Animal Welfare, Sports and some of our affiliate partners in counties outside of Davidson. For those who are just curious about the work we do and the exciting ways we are connecting generosity with need, please reach out to me. I am so very proud to be part of this institution and the community we serve.

More confirmation that I landed in the exact place I need to be! My goal in joining the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee was to avoid Nashville becoming a Tale of Two Cities- the have and the have-nots. The Catalyst Fund is a big step in the right direction with the focus on affordable housing. Thanks to Jim Gingrich, Hal Cato and others in this initiative for continuing to make Nashville the best possible version of itself.

Career update! I have taken the last year to contract with various organizations in the eternal quest to answer the question, what do I want to be when I grow up. And I want to be able to look my children in the eye and tell them I did my utmost to make the world a better place for them. I am truly thrilled to be joining Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee as the Vice President of Philanthropic Services. The role combines my commercial experience over the last 20 years with my passion for ensuring that the generosity of donors get to the people that need it most. I am a few weeks in, and am already overwhelmed by donors, nonprofits, all players in this ecosystem working tirelessly together. Thanks to Hal Cato and the rest of the team for welcoming me so readily!

Some weeks I feel particularly lucky living in Nashville, and this week was one of them. I was honored to be inducted into the International Women's Forum with sponsorship from Jan Babiak, Rita P. Mitchell and Linda Peek Schacht , and was able to connect with our new Fisk University president Agenia W. Clark! The rest of the week was spent at Launch Tennessee's 3686 Festival hearing confirmatory commentary from investors and entrepreneurs as to why Tennessee is now a bastion of entrepreneurship. I tried not to be Will Ferrell's Elf character shouting "I know her!" everytime one of my incredible friends contributed gold dust on a panel conversation. Huge kudos to Monique Villa and Lindsey Cox on such a successful event and to panelists I feel lucky to know- Leah Wald , Christina Sass , and Sherry Deutschmann.

Thank you, Milt Capps, for highlighting the birth of the Darrell Freeman Incubation & Innovation Center at Fisk University. With Nashville increasingly recognized as a hub of entrepreneurialism, this center will grow with the city and provide even further connectivity with the university and the incredible students and graduates it serves.

Another example of Fisk University continuing to shine! I became an utter fan girl after meeting Lonnie Bunch and hearing more about his storied career at #Smithsonian. We also explored the opportunity around a Fisk Art Museum (stay tuned) to showcase the university's incredible art collection. I needed to be reminded how the arts influence all aspects of our lives and teach us to approach challenges more creatively and collaboratively. Congratulations to Jens Frederiksen for making this forum a reality.

Thank you, Shelly Lombard, for the opportunity to talk "schmoozing"! I have known Shelly for a long time, and I have always admired her ability to bring amorphous topics into structured thoughts--and academic courses! She has done it again with the topic of networking- something that women haven't always warmed to or felt comfortable doing. Here's to building that muscle and continuing to raise each other up!#networking
