Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 For Galaxy S24 Ultra - The Only Case You Will Need (2024)

There is no shortage of great cases available for our modern-day smartphones. Things get even better if you are talking about flagship phones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra or the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Pitaka, a case-maker famous for its Aramid Fiber cases, has just released the new Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 for a number of devices. While this might look like something that has been done to the end, Pitaka has made some changes that I am really in love with, and when they sent me this case, I was more than happy with how it turned out.

The Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 for Galaxy S24 Ultra is not a cheap case by any means, but it is every bit as functional as the case should be

On the surface, the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra is just like any other case—the back is made out of Aramid Fiber, and the sides are TPU to ensure that your phone is well protected. However, this case actually comes with three extra buttons that Pitaka calls PinButton, and they add more functionality to your overall smartphone experience.

The Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 is classic Pitaka. There is nothing too fancy going on, and I like it the way it is. Nothing about the packaging stands out or makes you want more. I like how it is—simple and to the point.

When you take the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 out of the box, you are welcomed by the case itself, which looks slender and sleek. There is absolutely nothing wrong with how simple Pitaka has designed the case. The back has the branding on the right side of it, and that is about it.

Now, as the name suggests, the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 has MagSafe support, so if that is something you are looking for, this case will help you with it. I do have to mention that the Galaxy S24 Ultra sometimes does not play nicely with MagSafe cases wherein the S Pen loses functionality on parts of the screen. This normally happens when a MagSafe accessory is attached, but I have also tested cases where this issue happens even with just the case on. Thankfully, without any accessory installed, there is no interference, and the S Pen works as it should, without running into any interference.

Speaking of the accessories, Pitaka did send me the MagEZ Grip, which is basically a very high-end pop socket with really strong magnets. I have to mention that I am far from the guy who prefers pop sockets. However, considering how big the Galaxy S24 Ultra is, even for my hands, this socket has changed how I use my phone, allowing me to hold it a lot more confidently and comfortably when I am out and about.

The best thing is that the pop socket is magnetic and can be taken off when you are not using it. Speaking of taking it off, it more than holds the weight of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, so you do not have to worry about the phone detaching itself from the ring. This is perhaps the perfect accessory for the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4, and if you are wondering whether it causes any S Pen interference while being attached, then it does not.

Now, coming back to the Pin Buttons. These are three NFC-tagged buttons on the left of the case. From the moment you slide your phone into the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4, you can program these buttons to do virtually anything you want. This just gives you threeor more extra shortcuts on your phone without having to go through extra settings.

I have configured my Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 buttons to turn the flash on and off and open the Expert RAW app. It is a simple and clever implementation, and I really like the way Pitaka has done it. I only wish more case companies did something like this. Do keep in mind that you will need to unlock your device for the functions to work, and the buttons need to be long-pressed, but other than that, there are no inconsistencies in how these work.

As far as the downsides are concerned, I cannot really think about the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4, which I am not happy with. However, I would like to point out that all the buttons on the case do have some degree of rattle in them. I do understand that these are separate buttons and not cut into the case like some other cases, and this might be something that people would have some issues with. Another thing that I noticed is that if you have camera protectors on your phone, the case has a slightly snugger fit, but at no point does it look or feel like the case is not perfectly fitting the phone.

I believe the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 is the definitive case for my Galaxy S24 Ultra and I don't think I will be changing it for something else. Until someone comes up with a case that is both thinner and more protective with similar functionality, this is going to be my go-to case going forward, and I really hope Pitaka does not give up on making this type of case for future phones.

The Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 is the best case for the Galaxy S24 Ultra that I have managed to use. The Pin Buttons are excellent as they add more functionality to the phone, and MagSafe compatibility allows you to add more accessories to your device should you choose to do that. I wish Pitaka continues making these cases for future devices as well
