Marhea graduated with a BA from Penn State University in 1992, including a semester abroad in Chichester, England. Oren Simpson or "Pap" as he was affectionately known to his family and close friends, was born April 28th ,1935 in Nacogdoches. Oren enlisted in the United States Naval Service where he served both active and reserve roles until 1963. After serving, he moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to serve with the Pittsburgh Police Department for 28 years. He also met his future wife Kathleen Faas while working a routine call.
