🌟 Exciting News: European Parliament's IMCO Committee Adopts Right to Repair Proposal! 🌟Today marks a significant milestone in our ongoing journey toward a more sustainable and consumer-friendly Europe. The IMCO committee of the European Parliament has taken a monumental step by adopting the Right to Repair proposal.🔧 What does the final report include?🔧- Manufacturers would have to offer consumers a repair service for their own products for a certain period of time and to provide better information about repair options. - During the duration of the repair, consumers would be provided with a replacement appliance free of charge or against a reasonable fee.- Companies would have to make available spare parts and instructions to independent workshops, at a reasonable price and at least for the expected lifetime of the product.-The report calls for creating a a one-year guarantee after repair. - Member States are encouraged to ban practices that mislead consumers into thinking their goods cannot be repaired or that repairs pose safety risks.-Contractual, hardware, or software techniques that prevent or limit repair would be prohibited, while the refusal to repair goods previously serviced by independent repairers or non-professionals, will also be banned.- Member States are encouraged to promote repair through financial incentives (vouchers, repair bonuses, etc.).Let's celebrate this pivotal step toward a more sustainable future.
