Excellent awareness campaign. That’s a lot of…dudes. 👤👤👤👤👤👤I love the way this plays on people’s tendency to just skim the headlines to create a double-take moment and pull you in to read it all. Messages that need to be heard need creative talent to make an impact. Consider spending some of your creative energies on promotions for a cause or campaign you care about, or better yet, if you’re a woman or belong to another underrepresented group, join a board at a nonprofit in your area! I know some great ones that are looking for more awesome contributors — AIGA Saint Louis, United Way of Greater St. Louis, and many others would love to have your voice and perspective!

I blinked, and somehow it's the end of February already! Things have been super busy so far in 2024 working on some wide-ranging client projects and being able to spend time in community with wonderful people. I'm very excited to announce that as of January, I'm the new Vice President of our St. Louis AIGA Design chapter. 🙌🏽 It's been enlivening to work with our new and continuing board members and other creative community members to focus on useful and accessible benefits we can bring and enriching our STL design community overall. Matthew Maddox is an excellent President / partner in crime. (My first Student Conference this last weekend was a great experience! The speakers, workshop leaders, guests, and young designers were so good!) While it was a little bittersweet to end my 6-year(!) term on the board of the United Way of Greater St. Louis, I'm so grateful to have gotten to know and connect with some really fantastic, committed people joined in leadership and service. It was an honor to serve with everyone there. I learned so much from you all. Here's to continued community and service in the rest of 2024! 🥂

Looking back,2023 was a rough year in the Berry-Jones household, and yet I'm feeling good about 2024.Last year, our beloved family dog and three very special & deeply important people in our lives passed away, including my grandmother who was a big part of my growing up and shaping who I am. After a spring navigating an organization I dedicated years of energy, sweat, and love to being shaken and challenged like never before, mid-year, my primary job was suddenly eliminated along with others in a restructure. And our son really struggled through the first semester of Middle School (7th grade). BUT...🌩🌧🌈👉 It also had some beautiful moments and many things to be grateful for. Two of my parents moved nearby and we get to spend so much more time together now. I was diagnosed with ADHD (yes, this is a pro), which has led to giving myself more patience and kindness and a much healthier understanding and exploration of what works and what doesn't for my own brain. We took a much needed family vacation camping and hiking with nearly 0 devices (just as great as it sounds). Very luckily, I was able to expand Tiana Makes from side-gig to be my full-time business within a month of leaving LC (6 months ahead of my planned transition!). I now fully appreciate the freedom to work when and how it allows me to do my best work and spend more time on family and other fun things. My son started Jiu Jitsu, and it's the most wonderful thing to see the joy on his face during lessons (from a 13-year-old no less!).Also — dang I had forgotten how FUN it is to have a wide variety of clients and projects! 🙌 Mostly, though, I am so grateful for the amazing and awesome people in my life who supported and encouraged me when things were hard, folks who became new friends, shared fun times, got me back involved in the design community, referred clients (yay for business!), taught me new things, and generally provided opportunities to make some awesomeness happen. So 2024 is looking up, and we've got some mighty fun plans in store. What are you looking forward to? 🌈

Anyone (especially my Chief people) in the #Minneapolis - #StPaul area hiring for #SQL / #PowerBI developer with experience coding in #BASIC and a master’s in #CyberSecurity? He’d be great in a business intelligence capacity, or anywhere where you want a smart person to ask tough questions. #minneapolisjobs #techjobs #chiefx #CHIEF #skillsbasedhiring #minneapolismn #minnesotajobs

Whew! Last week was #STLDesignWeek and I'm still thinking about all the interesting people I met, new friends made, and great work I saw. Big thanks to Anna K. and everyone involved in Design Week, the AIGA St. Louis Chapter, and other contributors who helped make it a success! What a wonderful reminder of all the crazy talented #creators we have here in St. Louis. I wish I could have made it to more things, but, here are some highlights that I did get to experience 📸 :🗣️ Design Debate watching/cheering and all the things at .👀 Meeting really cool people and getting *serious* office envy from New Honor Society / an FCB Company, Atomicdust, TOKY, and Once Films. 🧱 Having a "work-related" excuse to continue playing with #LEGO and seeing everyone's sometimes-surrealistic prompt interpretations.🔪 Rediscovering the joy of destroying linoleum with block printing at #MOartsupply, and thankfully (somehow?) getting out without an art supply spending spree. (I'll definitely go back, but you're forever in my heart, Artmart ❤️)🪵 Getting creative through play with Jayvn Solomon and #AdobeAero at @ExhibitA. (And discovering how much Vanessa Tutka's life and mine overlap. Turns out, a LOT.)✍️ Rekindling my teenage love of #Zines at #BettysBooks, now a favorite spot. (Yay, Shreyas R Krishnan!)💣 Checking out all the artistry at the Poster Expo at #BombDoor.👉🏽 🎟️ ✈️ NEXT UP: AIGA Design Conference in #NYC and a jaunt down to #Philly! ----#Creatives #MakeStuff Tiana Makes #Design #GraphicDesign, #ExperienceDesign #Events #STL #StLouis #highlights #MadeInSTL MADE in STL #CreativeEntrepreneurs
